Happy new year

are my wishes for you and may you have a good knitting/crochet/stitching year ahead.

How quickly December always passes by and this one did it especially since I decide at the last minute to knit some Christmas gifts.

I had been thinking about what I should give my sisters for Christmas and I finally decided to knit Christmas balls for them. I had a pattern I got from a friend and decided to use off-white wool in the white part and green glitter yarn for the bells.

The bells are very beautiful. I've never before knitted Christmas balls but now I want to make one from each pattern I have so I will be having much fun ahead for me.

The Christmas tree that I started at the end of November is not yet ready but the plan is to finish it soon.  Then I will knit all the small things over the next 11 months. In December, it should be ready to be used as a Christmas calendar.

On pinterest are lot of patterns for Christmas balls and I fount them when I taped "Christmas balls knit".

December

Now it's December and the holidays are rapidly closing in. Then, it´s time to make things for Christmas.

I decided to knit a Christmas tree. I have a pattern from Alan Dart who is a fantastic knitting designer and design all kinds of figures and objects.

.
I bought sparkling green fur yarn that will be well hairy and sparkling Christmas tree. The tree is a Christmas calendar and hopefully I'll can start on knitting 24 small things that will hang on the tree.

New sweater

Few weeks ago I finished this sweater.

I used a pattern form Rowan magazine but changed yarn and added textured yarn to decorate it.

I find it quite nice that it reminds me of a sweater women used in Iceland two centuries ago.

I have to take picture of me wearing it so it is clearer what I am talking about.

Stars

I found those beautiful stars on the internet.

The stars are on a blogg called little woollie and in there are instructions that are easy to follow when making the star. The website is here. I can very easily view them as Christmas stars.

Give a hoot

I made those mittens last spring as a present for a friend. They are called "Give a hoot" and can be found on Ravelry.

They are easy to make because the pattern is very well written and easy to follow.

I used Icelandic léttlopi to knit those. I have also used other types of yarn to knit them from and they always look good.

Wash cloth

I found this nice bird on the Lion Brand website and decided to crochet it. It's really a pot holder but I decided to make one piece and use it as a wash cloth.

The pattern is simple and easy to follow. I made the bird slightly longer because I used yarn that was not as thick as in the recipe and I wanted to have my bird little longer than according to the rows in the pattern.

You can find the pattern here.
